About Dora Dolls

 

I have a textile design background & I love to sew & to use recycled materials wherever I can. I am interested in stitching, mainly by hand, to change the surface of fabrics, & to decorate.

 

Dora Dolls are fashion conscious & each one is individual & unique. Inspiration for their outfits is taken from 20th century fashion as well as fabric prints & graphics. 

 

I use various textile techniques to alter & decorate the surface of fabrics including stitch/pleat-dyeing, printing, bleaching & patching. Japanese Boro & Shibori are techniques I really enjoy working with.

 

Drawing is the groundwork for all my design ideas & some of my sources include natural objects like flowers, grasses, stones & the landscape.
